Drunk Driver Jailed for Murder After Fatal E-Scooter Crash
James Biscoe Sentenced to Seven Years
James Biscoe, 21, from Windsor Drive, Dartford, was locked up for seven years on Friday, June 6. The court handed down the sentence after Biscoe pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death, perilous driving, driving while intoxicated, and failing to stop at the scene.
His seven-year sentence factors in his early guilty plea. Additionally, Biscoe’s driving licence has been suspended for ten years.
Fatal Crash on Southborough Lane
The tragedy unfolded at 1.20am on Sunday, July 18, 2021. Biscoe, driving a red Fiat Punto on the wrong side of Southborough Lane, smashed into 16-year-old Junior Alexander, who was riding an e-scooter.
Junior was hurled several yards, crashing into a tree. Passers-by found him eight minutes later and administered first aid until police and paramedics arrived. Despite rushed hospital treatment, Junior died at 6:16am from multiple severe injuries.
Drunk and Gone: Biscoe Flees
After the crash, Biscoe fled the scene. Police hunt began immediately after finding car debris nearby. Forensic tests revealed Biscoe’s breath alcohol level was around 106 micrograms per 100ml – three times the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
