Knife Attack Shocker in Leicester: Young Man Stabbed in Westcotes
Jordan Smith, 22, with no fixed address, has been hit with a jail sentence after stabbing a 19-year-old male in the back during a terrifying morning attack at a property in Leicester’s Westcotes area on November 28.
Victim Fights for Life After Brutal Assault
The injured victim, who knew Smith, was asleep in the property near Narborough Road along with a woman also familiar to the attacker. At around 11am, the man woke to find Smith attacking him and trying to strangle him.
The woman bravely intervened, struggling to fend Smith off, while the victim managed to escape the property. Once outside, he realised he had been stabbed. He flagged down a passing car and called the police.
Armed officers were dispatched quickly to the scene. Although Smith initially fled, he returned shortly after and was arrested.
Police Seize Knife From Property Kitchen
The knife used in the attack was recovered from the kitchen of the property. The victim was rushed to hospital, treated for serious injuries including stitches, and later discharged.
Judge Sends Smith Down for Wounding With Intent
At Leicester Crown Court on Monday, Smith pled guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and received his sentence.
“Smith’s actions must have terrified the two people in the property and led to one being stabbed and needing hospital treatment,” said Officer in charge, PC Holly Barlow.
“Knife crime will not be tolerated. It’s extremely fortunate this attack wasn’t far worse. Thanks to officers’ work, Smith had no choice but to admit guilt. I hope this helps those affected as they try to move on.”
