Predator Jailed for Trying to Groom Child Under 13
Reice John Wills, 27, from Fratton, Portsmouth, has been slammed with a 27-month prison sentence for attempting to coax a child under 13 into sexual activity. The court also slapped him with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed him on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
How Police Nabbed Wills
Officers got suspicious after an interaction with Wills on January 18, 2021, and seized his phone. Their investigation uncovered multiple sexual messages with a child believed to be under 13. Wills later pleaded guilty at Portsmouth Crown Court on April 23.
Police Warn of Digital Dangers
“Protecting children from exploitation is one of the most important missions we, the police, have,” said Detective Constable Heather Hudson.
“This case shows how proactive policing can stop dangerous offenders. I want to thank everyone involved for their hard work in bringing Wills to justice.”
“I hope this sentence warns others about the dangers lurking online and encourages victims of child sexual abuse to speak up — no matter when it happened.”
“Victims can contact experienced officers in confidence and find support. If you’ve been abused, call your local police on 101.”
