London West End Horror: Youths Launch Racist iPhone Robbery Attack

Two young thugs unleashed a brutal robbery spree in London’s West End, targeting South Korean workers in a terrifying early morning assault. David Stan, 18, and his 15-year-old accomplice struck on Coventry Street just after midnight on 19 July 2020.

Violent Mugging Turns Ugly – Victims Brutally Beaten

The pair confronted the men, snatched an iPhone 11, and fled. But when the victims gave chase, the attackers viciously turned on them. One man suffered multiple broken bones in his nose after relentless punches. The other was knocked out cold.

During the savage attack, one yob hurled a vile racial slur, shouting “f***ing Chinese.” They also made off with a pricey £7,000 Hublot watch before escaping on a bus from nearby Haymarket.

CCTV Leads to Swift Justice

Thanks to clear CCTV footage, police tracked down the culprits. On 13 April at Isleworth Crown Court, Stan was sentenced to four years for robbery and assault. The younger offender, now 16, had already been locked up for 44 months after admitting racially aggravated violence last November.

Prosecutor Speaks Out on Impact

“This was a shocking and violent robbery in the middle of central London on a Saturday night,” said CPS prosecutor Claire Holder. “One victim was left unconscious; the other needed facial reconstructive surgery back in South Korea after suffering a badly broken nose.

“Vile racist slurs were hurled at the victims during the attack. The robbers were organised and ready to use violence to get what they wanted. CCTV evidence was crucial for identifying and convicting them.

“The victims remain traumatised and fearful for their safety. We hope these sentences provide them some comfort and send a clear warning to anyone thinking of committing similar crimes.”
