Child Sex Predator Caught Trying to Flee with £10,000 in Cash
David Morris, 52, was busted after police raided his home in Eccleston, St Helens. Officers swooped on September 2, seizing his phone, computer, and digital gear. He was held on suspicion of possessing and distributing indecent images of children but released on conditional bail.
Couple Nabbed Before Escape
The very next day, police got a tip-off that Morris and his partner Julie were planning to bolt after committing child sex offences. Cops raced to an address in Hindley and caught the pair red-handed. They found £10,000 in cash and their campervan packed to the brim—ready for a quick getaway.
Harsh Sentence for Child Sex Abuser
On December 22, Morris was handed a hefty 16-year prison sentence, plus four years on extended licence. He also received an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must stay on the sex offenders register for life.
Morris pleaded guilty to a shocking list of crimes, including:
- Seven counts of rape of a child under 13
- Sexual activity with a child
- Engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child
- Sexual communications with a child
- Taking and possessing indecent photographs of a child
- Possessing prohibited images of a child
- Possessing extreme pornographic images
- Voyeurism
Justice has caught up with Morris, ending a chilling chapter of abuse and near escape.
