Racist Rage on Hayes Bus Shocker
Michael Mongan sparked alarm on Coldharbour Lane, Hayes, after hurling vile racial abuse at a bus driver. The trouble kicked off at 12:25pm on Wednesday, 7 August when the driver refused Mongan entry for lacking fare money.
Spitting and Islamophobic Abuse Caught on Camera
Furious, Mongan repeatedly spat at the bus driver’s cab while shouting Islamophobic slurs and threats. A video of the shocking scene quickly went viral on social media. Police zeroed in and nabbed Mongan just two days later, on Friday, 9 August.
Swift Arrest and Court Appearance
- Mongan was charged with racially aggravated public order offences and criminal damage.
- The man, from Castle Road, Ealing, pleaded guilty at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, 10 August.
- He was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on Tuesday, 13 August.
Police Back the Bus Driver
Detective Inspector Jonathan Potter said: “The bus driver was simply doing his job. Every member of London’s transport network deserves to work without threats or intimidation.”
