90mph Chase Through Town Streets
An officer on patrol clocked Pidgeon’s silver Ford Mondeo doing 40mph in a 30mph zone. When the cop moved to stop him, Pidgeon floored it, racing through Derby Road at over 90mph. Despite the danger, officers kept up the chase, trying to bring the mad driver to heel.
Smash and Crash: Pidgeon Collides With Police Cars
Pidgeon refused to give in. He crashed into one police car, then sped off only to slam into another trying to block his path. Losing control, he finally swerved off the road and smashed into a tree. He was promptly arrested at the scene.
Judge Slams Dangerous Driving
At Nottingham Crown Court on 19 August, Pidgeon was sentenced to 12 months in jail and handed a two-year driving ban. The stolen car had been taken from a flat in Gayrigg Court, Chilwell.
“Pidgeon’s mindless behaviour could have had fatal consequences,” said Detective Inspector Steven Wragg. “It was a foolish attempt to evade capture and our officers did a fantastic job to arrest him without anyone being seriously hurt.”
“Driving offences are taken very seriously by Nottinghamshire Police and we will always take appropriate action against those found committing such offences.”
