Car Crash Culprit Caught After Assaulting Woman
Lee Norris, 51, from Buckhurst Avenue, Carshalton, Sutton, sparked a police hunt after crashing his car and running from the scene on the night of Tuesday, November 8. Officers tracked him down at a property in Portslade.
Violent Attack Uncovered at Norris’ Home
At the property, police found a woman with serious facial injuries. She told officers Norris had assaulted her, strangled her, and threatened to kill her. Norris was inside the house with blood on his hands.
Norris Faces Multiple Charges and Court Date Set
He was arrested immediately. On Thursday, November 10, Norris pleaded guilty to:
- Actual bodily harm
- Intentional strangulation
- Threats to kill
- Failing to stop after a road accident
- Driving without insurance
- Failing to provide a specimen for analysis
He remains in custody and is set to be sentenced at Lewes Crown Court on Thursday, December 8.

“Violence against women and girls has no place in our society and will not be tolerated by Sussex Police,” said Detective Inspector Laura Hillier-Diamond from Brighton and Hove’s Safeguarding Investigations Unit.
“Thanks to the swift work of officers after the collision report, a vulnerable woman was protected from further harm and a violent, dangerous individual was taken off the streets. I also commend the victim for her bravery in supporting this prosecution.”
