Swindon Man Jailed for Raping and Terrorising Girlfriend

Sam Knight, 38, from Swindon, has been slammed with a 13-year prison sentence plus four years on extended licence. The judge handed down the sentence this Thursday (13/10) at Swindon Crown Court, following a shocking trial that exposed his brutal abuse.

Knife-Wielding Rape and Coercive Control

Last May, Knight threatened his partner with a knife at her neck, forcing her into sex. On another chilling occasion, he sexually assaulted her while she was asleep.

But it didn’t stop there. Knight tried to control every part of her life. He threatened to throw acid in her face, stopped her from seeing friends, confiscated her phone, and forced her to wear clothes he chose.

Guilty Verdict and Harsh Sentence

Knight admitted to controlling and coercive behaviour but denied the rape and sexual assault charges, dragging the victim through a painful court battle. The jury, however, saw through his lies and convicted him on both counts.

He will now spend years behind bars, making sure he can’t harm anyone else.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage

“Knight was a serial offender, making the victim’s life miserable for his own gratification and subjecting her to his cruel behaviour,” said Detective Constable Corrina Wiltshire of Swindon CID.

“This was a traumatic time for the victim, and this conviction and sentence shows we will not take lightly any incidents of domestic violence and abuse.”

“I would like to commend her bravery for reporting the incidents and for being so open despite the hardship she faced throughout this ordeal.”

“Knight has now been jailed for 13 years, and I hope this sends a powerful message to victims of rape or sexual assault that we will do all we can to support them and ensure perpetrators are put before the courts.”
