Cop Charged with Rape and Assault
PC Jorden Brown from the Central East Command Unit faces serious charges. He’s been charged with rape and three counts of actual bodily harm.
Alleged Crimes Happened Off Duty
The offences reportedly took place between November 2018 and February 2019, all involving the same victim. They were committed while Brown was off duty.
Police Action and Court Date
The crimes were reported to police in October 2019, Scotland Yard confirmed. PC Brown has since been suspended.
“While I recognise the unavoidable strength of public sentiment, it is critical that nothing is said that jeopardises those proceedings,” said Detective Superintendent Dan Rutland of the Central East Command Unit.
“Criminal proceedings will now follow.”
Brown is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday, January 6, after being charged by post.
