Ex-Sergeant Found Guilty of Shocking Sexual Assaults and Abuse

Former Sergeant Paul Storey has been found guilty of gross misconduct after an 11-day hearing uncovered disturbing sexual and physical assaults, along with coercive behaviour against two women he knew.

Abusive Cop’s Horrific Crimes Revealed

Storey, once part of East Area Command Unit, resigned in September 2021 but still faced the full force of misconduct proceedings. The details uncovered are chilling:

  • Between 2012-2014, he locked one victim out of a house on a hot day, refused her water, isolated her from friends and family, and monitored her social media.
  • In October 2013, he violently grabbed her by the throat, dragged her down stairs, and threw her onto a table.
  • Around January or February 2014, he raped her.

His second victim faced brutal attacks too:

  • He smashed her over the head with a whisky bottle on New Year’s Eve 2014.
  • Repeatedly choked her, threw her against door frames and furniture.
  • Raped her in late 2015 or early 2016.
  • Destroyed her family photos during a 2017 argument.
  • Controlled her social life and social media tightly.

Police Chief Speaks Out: ‘Abhorrent Behaviour’

Chief Superintendent Stuart Bell condemned Storey’s actions: “The behaviour of former Sgt Paul Storey is abhorrent. This type of abuse leaves lasting scars and falls far below the standards expected of our officers. We take all allegations seriously.”

Bell added that a new team is now dedicated to investigating police sexual misconduct and domestic abuse. “While we work hard to rebuild trust, it’s little consolation to the victims,” he said.

Ex-Officer Blacklisted – No Job in Policing Again

Following the proven misconduct, Storey will be placed on the Barred List by the College of Policing. This blacklist bans him from working in any police service, local policing bodies, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary, or Fire and Rescue Services.

Despite his resignation, justice has caught up with former Sergeant Storey — a grim reminder that no one is above the law, especially those sworn to uphold it.
