David Lockyer, 75, faced a week-long trial at Woolwich Crown Court. The jury found him guilty of causing death by careless driving and driving an unlicensed vehicle.

Lockyer had been drinking before the crash and fled the scene, leaving Josh critically injured.

Lockyer was handed a two-year prison sentence for his reckless actions that claimed young Josh’s life.

Family Turns Tragedy Into Charity

Josh’s mother, Victoria Battman, 39, founded Joshy’s Heart of Gold to support families coping with the loss or serious injury of young loved ones.

To mark what would have been Josh’s 15th birthday on January 12, Victoria organised a charity fundraiser. She’s also set to do a skydive on March 25 to boost donations for the cause.
