Paedophile Benjamin Johnson Jailed for Horrific Crimes Against Two Young Girls
Benjamin Johnson, 34, from Scunthorpe, has been slammed with a six-year jail term for a series of sickening sexual assaults on two young girls under 13. Once known as Benjamin Norrie, Johnson’s twisted past dates back to his teens when he abused a three-year-old girl.
Secret Sex Offender’s Sickening Abuse Uncovered
Johnson hid his grim criminal past from the children’s mother while sexually abusing her daughters and supplying cannabis to one of them. The court heard he began with seemingly innocent tickling before escalating to sexual assaults, including toe-sucking, kissing, and stroking the girls’ legs.
“He started this offending by tickling, sucking their toes, kissing them, stroking their legs before he began to ask if he could touch her,” prosecutor Gordan Stables told Grimsby Crown Court.
Johnson also stalked the victims wearing a dressing gown with nothing underneath and brazenly told one girl: “If you were older, I would be with you.” When she refused his advances, he repeatedly pressured her until she reluctantly gave in, before being called away.
Police Hunt and Arrest After Victims Speak Out
At the time, Johnson was on the run from Humberside Police for breaching his sex offender notification rules. He had failed to inform them of his whereabouts, effectively “taking off”.
In a chilling family exchange in April last year, one victim confided that Johnson had abused her. Despite being sworn to secrecy, the other girl leaked the horrific truth to a relative, triggering a police investigation.
Neither Humberside nor Lincolnshire Police knew the other was searching for Johnson until he was finally spotted in a Ford Fiesta in Scunthorpe and arrested.
Judge Hands Down Tough Sentence for Disturbed Offender
Johnson initially denied eight charges including inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, four counts of sexual assault on a child, and cannabis supply. But he caved on the second day of his March trial and pleaded guilty.
Heartbreaking victim statements revealed the horrific impact of Johnson’s abuse. One girl suffers nightmares so bad she’s scared to shower alone. The other has self-harmed and is undergoing therapy.
Sentencing, Judge Ahmed Nadim said: “Your victims were very young and have been seriously damaged by your abuse. They continue to suffer nightmares and have not been supported by their mother. There is evidence you have a sexual interest in young and vulnerable children.”
Johnson was handed six years behind bars plus a two-year extended licence, totalling eight years. He must also abide by a sexual harm prevention order, a restraining order, and will remain on the sex offenders register for life.
