Fatal flat fire claims life in Ham Close

A devastating blaze tore through a flat in Ham Close last night, leaving one person dead.

Firefighters rush to the scene

The London Fire Brigade was called just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, after a neighbour reported hearing a smoke alarm inside the property known as Field House.

Four fire engines and around 30 firefighters and officers raced to tackle the inferno.

Tragic discovery and ongoing investigation

Firefighters forced entry and found a deceased person inside the flat. Residents and passersby were urged to stay clear as emergency crews worked.

The Met Police have launched a full investigation and are trying to contact the victim’s next of kin.
