Spirit-stealer nabbed after £1,700 booze heist spree!

Eight thefts in a month

Rae Stephenson pulled off a daring booze robbery spree at Asda on London Road. Between 13 March and 6 April 2023, he swiped more than £1,700 worth of spirits across eight separate incidents. Each time, he hid the booze in his clothes and strolled out without paying.

Police hunt ends with arrest

The West Kent Victim Based Crime Team tracked Stephenson down. He was arrested on 12 September in Greater London’s Petts Wood area. The 48-year-old from Snodland now faces charges for all eight thefts at Swanley, plus another hit at Tesco Express in Paddock Wood back in February.

Remanded in custody ahead of sentencing

Stephenson pleaded guilty at Medway Magistrates’ Court on 14 September. The court has remanded him in custody. He will be sentenced at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on 21 September. Watch this space for the verdict!
