Repeat Offender Aaron Richardson Jailed After Brazen Christmas Crimes in Sunderland

Aaron Richardson’s lawless spree has left Sunderland families fuming. The 31-year-old, already a notorious local offender, was given an eight-week suspended sentence on November 16 after breaking into a Porsche Boxster and rifling through valuables.

But the moment he left South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court, Richardson was back to his old tricks. Within hours, he smashed into a Honda on Markham Street, nicked cash and a bank card, then tried to use the stolen card at Premier Stores on Villette Road, Hendon. The cheeky fraud attempt was declined.

Aaron Richardson’s Festive Crimes Land Him Behind Bars

Richardson’s string of offences didn’t stop there. On December 4, he faced magistrates again and admitted to theft from a vehicle, fraud by false representation, and stealing two Christmas trees from Asda in Leechmere.

This time, he was handed a hefty 24-week jail sentence — meaning he’ll spend Christmas behind bars.

“Aaron Richardson has been a drain on our resources and his widespread offending has caused a lot of pain and anguish to families across Wearside,” said Sergeant Craig Sherriff of Northumbria Police. “This Christmas, he will be playing the role of Scrooge and can look forward to spending the festive period in a jail cell.”

Police Warn Sunderland Residents: Lock Up and Stay Alert This Christmas

Sergeant Sherriff cracked down hard on Richardson’s blatant disregard for the law, pointing out the impact on communities.

“This type of offending undermines the fabric of our communities and can have a corrosive effect. The public are fed up with Richardson’s crimes, and I’m glad he’s finally off our streets,” Sgt Sherriff added.

He urged locals to stay vigilant during the festive season:

  • Lock your house and car doors at all times
  • Keep valuables out of sight
  • Place Christmas presents in the boot, not on the back seat
  • Report any suspicious activity to the police immediately

“We’ll be patrolling hotspot areas and using every tactic to nab burglars and thieves,” Sgt Sherriff warned. “But ultimately, the public are our eyes and ears — so stay alert and help us keep Sunderland safe this Christmas.”
