Met Police Officer Admits to Child Sex Crimes
PC Hussain Chehab, 22, from the North Area Command Unit, pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court on January 24 to multiple child sex offences committed before joining the Met.
Shocking Offences Spanning Years
- Four counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15 between March and September 2019
- Three counts of taking indecent photos of a child
- One count of sexual contact with a child
Another four counts of making indecent photos were left on file, with no verdict given.
Chehab was bailed ahead of sentencing on March 17 at the same court. Meanwhile, an accelerated misconduct procedure is underway to swiftly deal with his actions.
Fiend Exploited Vulnerable Girls – Police Boss Speaks Out
“Our thoughts are foremost with the young girls Chehab exploited for his own sexual gratification,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Caroline Haines, lead for policing in Enfield where Chehab served.
“It is especially sickening some offences took place while he was a Safer Schools officer at a secondary school in Enfield from May 2021 until his arrest in August 2021.”
Chehab was immediately removed from his role when allegations surfaced. The Met worked closely with the school and council to prevent further harm.
A review found no warnings or red flags before Chehab joined the police in March 2020. He passed all child and vulnerable group vetting before starting his role working in schools.
DSC Haines added, “This will shake the local community and Londoners who trust police officers to keep children safe every day.”
She confirmed there’s no evidence linking his offending to his time as a schools officer but said the Met is engaging with schools and community groups to reassure them.
Timeline of Chehab’s Crimes and Arrest

- July 2021 – Family of 16-year-old alerts police over relationship concerns
- August 24, 2021 – Arrested, devices seized, moved to restricted duties away from schools
- October 28, 2021 – Second arrest after lewd images found; suspended from duty
- September 13, 2022 – Charged with multiple child sex offences
Investigators uncovered messages revealing sexual communication with a 14-year-old girl, who later claimed a sexual relationship with Chehab in 2019.
