PCSO Sentenced to 20 Weeks for Intimidating Harassment Victim
PCSO Mohammed Zaman Jailed
PCSO Mohammed Zaman, part of the West Area Command Unit, has been sentenced to 20 weeks behind bars. The verdict came down at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16 May, following his conviction in March.
Intimidation of Harassment Victim
Back on 24 March 2021, while off duty, Zaman confronted a woman who was a victim in a harassment case. He used threatening words, telling her that he and his friends knew where she lived. The woman reported the incident to police, triggering a swift investigation.
Police React to Breach of Trust
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, responsible for policing in Ealing, Hillingdon, and Hounslow, slammed Zaman’s actions. He said, “The actions of this officer have undermined the trust and confidence that people have in our organisation. His actions are not representative of the standards of behaviour that we expect from our employees, and we will always investigate those who do not meet those standards and hold them to account.”
Investigation and Next Steps
- Zaman was arrested the day after the incident and charged on 15 April 2021.
- He was suspended from duty following the charge.
- Now that the criminal case is closed, internal misconduct proceedings will begin shortly.
