Special Constable Sergeant Charged with Sexual Assault

Off-duty Special Constable Sergeant Ben Smith has been charged with sexual assault relating to incidents from 2017.

Allegations Surface from 2017

Smith, attached to the Metropolitan Police’s South East Command Unit, faces two counts of sexual assault involving two women. The alleged incidents occurred while he was off duty.

Court Appearance and Suspension

The case is scheduled for bromley/" title="Bromley" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Bromley Magistrates Court on Monday, 13 March. Smith has been suspended from all duties pending the outcome.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “A serving Met Police Special Constable (SC) has been charged with sexual assault.

“SC Sergeant Ben Smith was charged on Thursday, 16 February with two counts of sexual assault.

“The assault is alleged to have taken place against two females in 2017 when the officer was off duty.

“SC Smith, who is attached to the South East Command Unit, appears at Bromley Magistrates Court on Monday, 13 March.

“He is currently suspended from duty.”
