Driver Busted in Dover After Police Assault and Hospital Ruckus

Stopped for No Licence or Insurance

On Thursday 31 March 2021, police in Dover pulled over a car on London Road. They had info the driver was uninsured and unlicensed.

Violent Arrest Turns Ugly

Officers arrested the driver, Kyle Toptalo, 31, from Devonshire Road, Dover, but things quickly escalated. An officer was allegedly assaulted during the arrest.

Hospital Row and Another Assault

The suspect fell ill in custody and had to be rushed to hospital. There, he reportedly abused staff before returning to custody—where he allegedly assaulted another officer.

  • Two counts of assaulting an emergency worker
  • Obstruction of police
  • Using threatening and abusive language to provoke violence
  • Driving without a licence
  • Driving without insurance
  • Possession of cannabis
  • Failing to provide a specimen for analysis

Toptalo has been bailed and is set to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on 20 May 2021.
