Man Charged After Brutal Fight Leaves Victim Seriously Injured in Sneinton
A 35-year-old man has been charged following a violent clash inside a Sneinton home that left a young man fighting for his life.
Late-Night Brawl on Sneinton Boulevard
Police were called to Sneinton Boulevard at around 1:15am on Saturday, 14 January after reports of a disturbance. Officers found a man in his twenties with severe head and shoulder injuries.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
After searching the property, officers arrested Yehya Mahdi, 35, of Sneinton Boulevard. He has been charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. Mahdi is set to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 16 January 2022.
Police Reassure Sneinton Residents
“I am pleased we have charged a suspect and hope it reassures residents in Sneinton who may have been concerned by the incident,” said Detective Sergeant Lee Cattell of Nottinghamshire Police.
“We believe it was a one-time occurrence with no wider public risk. It was extremely serious, however, and the force will never tolerate this type of violent disorder.”
The victim remains in a stable condition in hospital as investigations continue.
