Gravesend Man Charged with Arson After Early Morning Blaze

Fire Breaks Out in Salem Place

Brandon Jones, 23, from Thistledown, Gravesend, faces a serious charge of arson with intent to endanger life. The blaze erupted in Salem Place just after midnight on Wednesday, 31 March 2021.

Rapid Response from Police and Fire Crews

Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene at 12:42am. Residents were quickly evacuated as firefighters battled the flames. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the incident.

Suspect Arrested and Court Date Set

Jones was arrested shortly after the fire and charged the very next day, Thursday 1 April. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court that same day and was remanded in custody. His next hearing is scheduled for 29 April at Maidstone Crown Court.
