Burglars Blitz Cash Machine and Shop in Midnight Raid

Kent Police were called out just after midnight on Wednesday, 21 September 2022, following an attempted break-in at a cash machine next to a shop. Two men tried to crack the machine before smashing the shop’s front door and stealing a stash of cigarettes.

High-Speed Chase Ends With Arrest

Officers quickly spotted a suspicious van in the area. When signalled to stop, the vehicle sped off, triggering a tense pursuit along the A249 Sheppey Way towards Iwade. The chase ended in Ledger Close, Sittingbourne, where one man was arrested. The van turned out to be stolen, and inside officers discovered a haul of suspected stolen cigarettes.

Man Charged as Police Hunt Second Suspect

Mark Steed-Shadbolt, 31, from Latona Road, Peckham, London, faces charges including burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, and dangerous driving. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 23 September 2022.

Police are still on the lookout for a second suspect, described as a white male wearing a black Adidas hooded top.
