Knife-Wielding Crook Jailed Over Brighton E-Scooter Heist
A 20-year-old was ambushed and robbed at knifepoint while riding his e-scooter along Grantham Road, Brighton, at around 10pm on 21 March. Two men in a silver Ford Focus demanded he hand over the scooter—he refused, sparking a brutal attack.
Victim Attacked and Threatened in Bold Robbery
The victim fled to nearby Edburton Avenue but was cornered, punched in the head, and threatened with a knife. The attackers escaped with the scooter. Thankfully, a quick-thinking witness noted the car’s registration, linking it to a Hove address on Coleridge Street.
Cameron Boxall Caught and Sent Down
Police raided the property and vehicle, uncovering stolen goods and two Stanley knives. Cameron Boxall, 18, an unemployed man with no fixed address, was arrested. He faced charges of robbery, possession of a knife in public, and handling stolen goods from another case.
Boxall pleaded guilty and was remanded before Brighton Magistrates’ Court. On 1 June, he was handed a three-year prison sentence.
Investigation Continues for Second Suspect
“The young victim was alone and on his way home when he was accosted and robbed at knifepoint by two men,” said Detective Rose Horan. “He was also punched in the head, and his e-scooter was taken.
“Thanks to the victim and local community for providing crucial evidence leading to this dangerous offender’s conviction.”
The scooter remains missing, and police are still hunting the second suspect.
