Career Criminal Nabbed After Stealing Mum’s Car and Carrying £2,500 in Class A Drugs
Andrew Dunkley, 32, made a daring getaway in a stolen Citroen Picasso outside a home on Apthorpe Street, Fulbourn, on 6 March. His wild escape caught the attention of the victim’s daughter, who arrived just seconds later and immediately spotted her mum’s car barreling away.
Multiple Arrests Reveal Dark Drug Haul
Dunkley was first arrested on 12 March but clammed up, offering no comment during police questioning. Released on bail, he was arrested again on 15 July near his home in Rachel Close. This time, he was charged not only with the car theft but also with possession of cocaine, crack cocaine, methadone, and heroin worth an estimated £2,500 — all discovered during a January stop.
Sentenced to 20 Months Behind Bars
At Peterborough Crown Court on 12 November, Dunkley pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a class A drug. He was slammed with a 20-month prison sentence.
“Dunkley admitted to being ‘an honest criminal,’” said Detective Constable Eitan Joseph, who led the investigation. “He is a career criminal with multiple previous convictions. His knowledge of the game makes it challenging to pin offences on him.”
“I’m glad he’ll be behind bars for some time, giving him the chance to rethink his life choices.”
