Man Stabbed and Car Stolen in Shocking Worsbrough Knife Robbery
Barnsley police are hunting two men after a terrifying knife attack left a man stabbed in the neck and his car stolen in Worsbrough.
Victim Stabbed During Knifepoint Carjacking
Officers were called just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, to a car park off Haverlands Lane following a violent robbery. Two men had arranged to meet another pair via a dating app at Asda on Upper Sheffield Road. The group then walked together to a nearby car park.
It was there the victims were threatened with a knife. The driver was stabbed in the neck before the attackers fled the scene in his grey Peugeot Allure E-HDI.
Thankfully, the driver’s injuries were minor, requiring no stitches and were not life-threatening.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Officers want anyone who spotted the stolen Peugeot in the Worsbrough area around 3 a.m. to get in touch. They’re also calling on drivers with dash cams to check their footage for the vehicle.
Detective Constable Toni Wain, leading the investigation, warned:
“This was a terrifying ordeal for these two victims, and South Yorkshire Police will not tolerate this type of violent crime.”
“We want to find the offenders and bring closure for the victims.”
Dating App Users Urged to Stay Safe
DC Wain also issued a stark warning to those using online dating apps to stay vigilant:
“While most dating app users are genuine and safe, sadly some have criminal intentions. Please take precautions to reduce risks when meeting new people.”
