Drug haulier caught red-handed with £7.5m of cocaine at Dover
Dover Border Force raid hauls in £7.5m cocaine stash
Miodrag Ivankovic, 45, was stopped by Border Force officers on September 6 at Dover’s freight controls after arriving from Calais. Officers grew suspicious and searched his truck, slicing open a pallet to reveal white powder spilling out.
94kg of Class A drugs found in truck
Inside the vehicle, officers discovered a whopping 94kg of cocaine, with a street value of £7.5 million. Ivankovic’s DNA was found on the drug-packed boxes. The driver, from Banja Luka in northern Bosnia, admitted attempting to smuggle the Class A substances into the UK.
Jailed for smuggling after NCA crackdown
Ivankovic was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on July 29. NCA Branch Commander Martin Grace praised the operation, saying, “We and our Border Force partners have taken a significant consignment of cocaine out of the supply chain.”
“The organised crime group behind the plot have lost profits they would have ploughed back into more offending and they have lost a trusted smuggler,” Grace added.
He warned, “Drugs bring misery to UK communities and the NCA will continue to do everything it can to combat the threat.”
