Brutal Abuse: Joshua Hamilton Sentenced for Terrifying Year-Long Attack

Joshua Hamilton subjected his victim to a brutal year of violence and mental torment during 2020 and 2021. The 24-year-old repeatedly beat her, shredded her clothes, and made chilling threats to kill her.

Shocking Details of Abuse

  • Hamilton punched, kicked, and trod on her feet.
  • He pulled her hair and struck her with a belt.
  • He violently grabbed her by the throat.
  • He forced her to stand in corners facing walls for hours.
  • He controlled her every move and issued frequent death threats.

The victim suffered relentless mental torture alongside the physical abuse, living in constant fear for her life.

Justice Served at Maidstone Crown Court

Hamilton, from Rankine Road, Tunbridge Wells, was arrested in April 2020. He pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, sending threatening messages, criminal damage, and breaching bail conditions. On 26 April 2022, he was sentenced and slapped with a 10-year restraining order.

Police Praise Victim’s Courage

“Hamilton relentlessly abused, isolated, and tormented his victim. His horrific actions were designed to control, humiliate, and degrade her,” said Detective Chief Inspector Steve McLean of West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team.

“I commend the victim for her immense courage in coming forward and ensuring Hamilton faces justice. Domestic violence is a top priority for Kent Police. No one should feel trapped or helpless — help is out there.”
