Manhunt Madness: Attack, High-Speed Chase and Police Rammed in Shocking Incident
Alex Moore, 47, from Timberbank, Vigo, sparked panic after threatening and attacking his ex-partner and a child on the evening of Thursday 8 February 2024. Police were called to the scene and quickly got on his tail.
Police Pursuit Turns Violent
Officers tracked Moore in his car and pulled him over. But Moore had other plans. After confirming his identity, he sped off, clipping a police vehicle in the escape attempt.
The chase escalated on Lower Rainham Road when Moore deliberately reversed into the police car, smashing it so hard the airbags deployed and smoke filled the cabin. One officer suffered minor injuries from the brutal hit-and-run.
Arrest and Heavy Charges
Moore was later found beside his vehicle and arrested. He faces a slew of serious charges:
- Possession of a bladed article in public
- Threats to kill
- Intentional strangulation
- Assault on an emergency worker
- Drink driving
- Dangerous driving
- Failing to stop
- Destroying property with intent to endanger life
Moore admitted guilt and was slammed with an eight-year sentence at Woolwich Crown Court on 12 July 2024. He also received an indefinite restraining order and a three-year driving ban, due to start upon release.
Police Speak Out
“Moore subjected his former partner and a child to frightening behaviour which put them in fear for their lives,” said Detective Constable Sam Strudwick.
“He used physical force and a knife to terrorise them. Then, by drink driving, he endangered the public and recklessly rammed a police car, smashing it beyond repair.”
