Daughter Stabs Mum to Death, Hides Body in Cupboard Covered in Paint
Cassandra Scott from Longsight will spend at least 17 years behind bars after murdering her mother, Beverley Scott, and trying to cover it up. The chilling discovery was made at their Holker Close home, where Beverley’s body was found hidden in a cupboard under the stairs on June 11, 2021.
Brutal Murder and Grim Cover-Up
Beverley, 58, was last seen alive on March 25, 2021, picking up a prescription at a local pharmacy. Sometime between that day and April 1, her daughter stabbed her ten times in the back, delivering fatal wounds. To hide the crime, Cassandra wrapped her mother’s body in plastic and blankets, smeared paint over her to mask the smell, and covered blood stains in the hallway with rugs and blankets.
Cold Lies and Deception
Cassandra then dumped the murder weapon and her bloody clothes in a bin nearby before moving out to stay with a friend—taking Beverley’s dog with her. Over the following weeks, she spun a web of lies, telling family, friends, and neighbours that Beverley was in rehab, didn’t want to talk, was fine, or, on one grim occasion, that she had died in hospital.
Cash Withdrawals and Growing Suspicion
Meanwhile, Scott withdrew money from her mother’s bank account to support herself. Worries mounted as Beverley missed collecting her prescriptions and stopped contacting services. Police forced entry on June 11, uncovering the grisly scene. Scott was arrested the very next day on suspicion of murder.
