The jury of seven men and five women has retired to decide the fate of Billy Midmore. The 22-year-old, with no fixed address, has spent the last week on trial at Southampton Crown Court. He’s accused of blinding Southampton mum-of-six Carla Whitlock with acid outside the Turtle Bay last year.

Judge Issues Strict Warning to Jury

During his summing-up, the judge told the jury to focus solely on the evidence presented in court. Midmore faces one serious charge: causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He stands accused of acting alongside his brother, Geoffrey Midmore, who already admitted guilt in an earlier hearing.
