Billy Midmore Found Guilty Over Shocking Acid Attack

Brutal Southampton Acid Attack Leaves Mother Blind

Billy Midmore has been found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a horrifying acid attack on Carla Whitlock in Southampton. The victim, a mother of six, was left blind in one eye following the assault.

The attack took place on 18 September 2015, when Carla was doused with a drain cleaner containing sulphuric acid.

Brothers Coordinate Attack and Flee Police

Billy Midmore, along with his brother Geoffrey Midmore, 27, planned and carried out the shocking attack. Geoffrey pleaded guilty to the same charge back in November 2015. Both will be sentenced at a later date.

After the attack, the Midmore brothers went on the run, evading police until they were caught in Gillingham, Kent, following a nationwide manhunt supported by Kent Police.

Community and Police Praised for Swift Response

“There was an excellent response from members of staff and customers from a local restaurant and passers-by,” said Detective Chief Inspector David Brown from the Western Investigations Team. “They rushed to Carla’s side and helped provide valuable witness accounts.”

“The injuries Carla sustained are horrific and will affect her for life. We’ve put support in place from health and social services to help her rebuild.”

“I commend Hampshire Constabulary’s tireless work to bring the Midmore brothers to justice. These types of incidents are extremely rare in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We will continue working to keep the county safe.”

Justice Awaits as Sentencing Date Set

The jury of seven men and five women reached their verdict in just over 12 hours. Both brothers face sentencing soon, with the community hoping for a tough punishment in this brutal case.
