Woman Jailed for ‘Worst Case’ of Domestic Abuse
Sheree Spencer, 45, from Market Weighton, was locked up for four years last month at Hull Crown Court. She was found guilty of relentless coercive and controlling behaviour spanning over five years, plus three violent assaults on her husband in 2020.
Horrific Attacks Unveiled
Judge Kate Rayfield branded Spencer’s actions “the worst case of controlling and coercive behaviour I have seen.” The court heard terrifying abuse:
- Her husband was spat at and grabbed by the throat.
- He was bitten multiple times.
- An assault with a bottle left permanent damage to his ear and elbow.
Spencer also received an indefinite restraining order.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery
PC Adele Jenkinson praised Mr Spencer’s “strength, courage and patience” throughout the investigation. She said the sentence “gives him, his friends and family some closure to look towards a happier future.”
“Sheree Spencer is an abusive and violent woman who subjected her husband to years of abuse. The offences were regular and sometimes several happened in one day,” said PC Jenkinson.
“I want this case to show victims of domestic violence that no matter who you are, we will listen, support and bring abusers to justice.”
