Man on the Run Caught Hiding in Coal Bunker After Death Threats

Threats Spark Police Hunt in Cliftonville

Kent Police swung into action after receiving a chilling report on 20 July that a man had made threats to kill. Officers headed to the Edgar Road area of Cliftonville, only for the suspect to bolt the moment patrols arrived on the evening of Friday 23 July 2021.

Hide and Seek Ends in Coal Bunker

A thorough search of the area soon uncovered the fugitive hiding out in a coal bunker on Dalby Road. He didn’t stay hidden for long.

Weapons Cache and Arrest

Police found a haul of deadly weapons during follow-up enquiries, including batons, an electric cattle prod, an air weapon, and a flick knife. The 39-year-old, who has no fixed address, was arrested on suspicion of possession of offensive weapons, firearms offences, class A drug possession, and making threats to kill.

He has been granted bail, due back at the station on Wednesday 18 August as investigations continue.
