Cop Canned After Sending Explicit On-Duty Video

Isle of Wight officer sacked for sharing racy clips while in uniform and on duty. PC Jonathan “Joe” Finch has been booted from Hampshire Constabulary after a damning misconduct hearing.

771 Sexy Messages and a Shocking Video

Back in August 2018, Finch blasted out 771 WhatsApp messages — mostly explicit — to a date app match. Worse still, he filmed himself exposing himself while wearing his police uniform inside a police-owned building. Hampshire Constabulary refused to say which location was used.

Serious Misconduct and Dishonest Pay Claims

  • The panel found Finch breached professional standards on duties, honesty, and discreditable conduct.
  • He clocked off early on 10 August but still fraudulently claimed overtime pay for hours he didn’t work.
  • This behaviour was classed as gross misconduct, leading to his immediate dismissal.

Trusted Officer with a Dark Side

Once the Child Sexual Exploitation lead and Counter Terrorism contact on the island, Finch was a respected figure in schools and community groups. Yet his LinkedIn still claims he’s with Hampshire Constabulary, despite being axed after 14 years.

Finch also founded IW Pride and chaired governors at Medina and Carisbrooke Colleges for six years. Now his career is in tatters.

Deputy Chief Constable Sara Glen said: “Maintaining the trust and confidence of our communities can only be achieved if our police officers uphold the highest standards of professional behaviour at all times, but especially when on duty. Honesty and integrity is an integral part of being a police officer and there is no place within our force for those who choose to ignore the fundamental principles of policing.”
