Undercover Corruption Exposed
An investigation launched by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards’ Anti-Corruption Command uncovered Mahmood’s role in a drug and cash laundering ring. Between November 2019 and March 2020, Mahmood, often in uniform and a marked police car, teamed up with an accomplice disguised as a police officer to seize large sums of cash from couriers involved in drug payments and laundering.
Swift Action and Dismissal
- Mahmood was first arrested on 28 April and re-arrested on 7 July for further offences.
- He was charged on 8 July and faced a misconduct hearing on 26 November.
- The hearing ruled all allegations proven, ordering his immediate dismissal without notice.
“There is absolutely no place for corruption within the Metropolitan Police Service,” stated Commander Paul Betts of the MPS Directorate of Professional Standards. “Following his conviction at court, it is entirely right PC Mahmood has been dismissed and will be placed on the College of Policing’s barred list.”
