Baby P’s Stepfather Denied Parole Again

Steven Barker, stepdad of tragic Baby P, has struck out in his latest bid to get freed from jail. Barker was locked up in 2009 for 12 years after causing or allowing 17-month-old Peter Connelly’s death in 2007. That’s not all — he’s also serving a life sentence with a minimum of 10 years for a separate rape conviction.

Parole Panel Says He’s Still a Threat

The parole board ruled Barker still poses a high risk to the public. They slammed him for failing to take part in rehab programmes designed to curb violent and sexual offending. As a result, he remains behind bars.

Next Parole Review in Two Years

Barker won’t get another chance to appeal his release for at least two years, when he will face another parole review. Until then, Baby P’s stepfather stays locked up.
