Fraudster’s Daring Jailbreak Foiled After Fake Bail Emails

Junead Ahmed, 36, from Brentwood, posed as a doctor to bag a £2million mansion he couldn’t afford. Caught and jailed for fraud, Ahmed was locked up at HMP Chelmsford awaiting sentencing – but he wasn’t ready to stay inside.

On June 21, a fake email, supposedly from the Royal Courts of Justice, ordered his release on bail. Prison staff fell for the forgery, letting Ahmed walk free – but his freedom was short-lived.

Sneaky Emails Spark Police Sting

The very next day, that same fake email account sent bogus release orders for two other inmates, Adam Mohamed and Charlie Whittaker. Prison staff smelled a rat and checked with the courts – the orders were a sham.

Police quickly linked Ahmed to his wife Nazash Akhtar and Charlotte Whittaker, Charlie’s mum. A raid on Akhtar’s Shenfield home on June 23 found Ahmed hiding in the loft. He was slapped with a new charge: escaping lawful custody.

Whole Escape Gang Exposed

  • Charlotte Whittaker got arrested at her Kirby Cross home. Her phone exposed texts plotting breakouts for her son Charlie and Mohamed.
  • Akhtar was connected to ‘Azid’ – really 20-year-old tech whizz Aaryan Noor Ali from Barking, who crafted the fake emails and release orders.
  • All six conspirators face charges over their elaborate escape plot.

Court Throws The Book at Jailbreak Crew

At Chelmsford Crown Court, Ahmed boasted he’d be a “gangster” if their plan worked. The judge wasn’t impressed:

  • Ahmed was locked up for 3 years and 3 months.
  • Noor Ali got 2 years and 2 months for masterminding the scam.
  • Akhtar received a 2-year suspended sentence, suspended for 2 years.
  • Charlotte Whittaker and Adam Mohamed were both handed 12 months suspended for 18 months.
  • Charlie Whittaker’s sentence is still to be decided.

Detective Chief Inspector Rob Huddleston said: “This was a sophisticated escape plan masterminded by Ahmed and his wife. The scheme quickly fell apart once the prison alerted us. We found Ahmed hiding in the loft, arrested the conspirators, and ensured justice was served.”
