Man Pleads Guilty to Murder of Bright Young Star Steph Irons
A man has admitted murdering 23-year-old Steph Irons, who was fatally stabbed in her own home. Steph, described as a “bright young star,” tragically lost her life after a brief romance turned deadly.
Ex-Lover Attacks After Break-Up
Adedapo Adegbola, 40, stabbed Steph to death on the evening of Tuesday 21 October 2025 at her home on Westdale Lane West, Mapperley. The attack came after their short-lived relationship ended badly.
Worried co-workers raised the alarm after receiving disturbing messages from Steph that night. Emergency services arrived at 10:07pm to find her critically injured in the living room. Despite frantic efforts, paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Fleeing Killer Caught After Bloody Trail
Following the brutal attack, Adegbola fled the scene, leaving behind blood-stained trainers and a jumper across Mapperley and Carlton streets. He then travelled through Mansfield, Worksop, Sheffield, and Hull before returning to Nottingham the next morning.
He surrendered himself at Oxclose Police Station and was immediately arrested on suspicion of murder. Though he refused to speak during interviews, damning CCTV footage, digital evidence, and witness testimonies sealed his fate.
Guilty Plea and Sentencing Date Set
On 26 January 2026, Adegbola pleaded guilty to the murder of Steph Irons at Nottingham Crown Court. The Mansfield resident is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday 5 February.
The heartbreaking loss of Steph has shaken her friends, family, and community, who remember her as a bright and promising young talent.
