Knife-wielding thief nabbed after string of Brighton raids
Arrest follows taxi knife threat
Jason Turner, 39, from The Crestway in Brighton, was arrested on Thursday, 9 February after police were called to Madeira Place. Witnesses reported Turner running from a taxi and threatening the driver with a knife.
Burglar, robber and violent offender charged
Initially arrested for making off without payment and carrying an offensive weapon, Turner’s charges quickly stacked up. He now faces five counts including burglary, robbery, shop theft, and causing actual bodily harm.

The crimes span several locations and dates:
- Theft from a store on Boundary Road, Hove – 16 January
- Burglary at a pub in York Place, Brighton – 24 January
- Second pub raid in Marine Parade, Brighton – 26 January
- Theft at Sea Life Centre, Marine Parade – 26 January
- Restaurant raid in Gloucester Street, Brighton – 8 February
Remanded until trial next month
Turner remains in custody and is due to appear at court on 10 March. The venue is yet to be confirmed.
