A judge has slammed the brakes on a deadly road rampage, sentencing Trevelle Rowland, 34, to life behind bars with a minimum of 22 years.
Brutal Hit-and-Run on East Ham Street
Chaos erupted in East Ham on Sunday, 24 March, at 5:20am. Emergency crews rushed to Barking Road after a crash left 35-year-old Fergany Mvuezolo critically injured. Despite desperate efforts, Mvuezolo died at the scene.
Using CCTV, witness reports, and mobile footage, police uncovered a chilling truth. Rowland, who knew the victim, had a scrap with a group outside a restaurant. After driving off in his VW Tiguan, he shockingly returned and deliberately mowed down Mvuezolo.
Fugitive Nabbed Trying to Flee the UK
Witnesses immediately named Rowland as the driver. Police launched a manhunt. Rowland and his partner, Inayah Taiwo, were caught at Heathrow Airport trying to flee the country. A receipt found on Rowland directly linked him to the crime scene.
Also Tied to Earlier Shocking Attack
Police connected Rowland to another violent incident on 29 May 2023. That morning, Rowland drove the same VW into two security guards outside a Barking pub after a spat over a baseball cap. One guard was slammed onto the bonnet, suffering knee and ankle injuries. The other had a damaged hand.
Rowland lied about the crash, blaming an associate for the car. But both guards identified him. He was hit with charges including murder, dangerous driving, and two counts of attempted grievous bodily harm.
Rowland’s brutal actions and lies couldn’t save him. Justice has been served for Mvuezolo and the injured guards with a hefty jail term for the dangerous driver.
