Luxury Home of Ruthless Enforcer Brought Down by NCA
A debt collector living the high life in an East London gated community, where homes fetch over £700,000, has been exposed as a brutal enforcer for a major organised crime ring. Peter Cordwell, 49, has been sentenced to 11 years and six months after a National Crime Agency (NCA) crackdown.
Notorious Drug Dealer Behind Gated Walls
Cordwell, known in the criminal underworld, admitted involvement in cocaine and amphetamine supply. He had previous convictions for assault in 1998 and battery in 2014. Based in Ilford, near the Essex border, Cordwell operated under the encrypted alias “Mightyjedi” on EncroChat, a secret messaging app favoured by criminals.
He was jailed at Snaresbrook Crown Court on December 18 for orchestrating large-scale drug deals through EncroChat, which was taken down by UK law enforcement in 2020 during Operation Venetic.
Massive Drug Haul and High-Tech Security
NCA investigations revealed Cordwell handled at least 32 kilos of cocaine worth around £2.5 million, plus 90 kilos of amphetamines. His encrypted messages detailed collections of huge cash payments and boasts of cocaine purity over 80%.
- Collected £112,000 for “four kilos of cocaine”
- Coordinated multi-kilo drug shipments between late 2019 and mid-2020
His Essex home was fitted with top-of-the-range security gear, reflecting his dangerous lifestyle.
NCA Stops UK Drug Kingpin in His Tracks
Cordwell was arrested on August 9, 2022, and refused to answer questions in multiple interviews. Dean Wallbank, NCA Operations Manager, said:
“By dismantling Cordwell’s crime group, we have put an end to the harm it was bringing to UK streets. These men were supplying substantial quantities of Class A drugs across 123 works in the UK and around the world to fight the class A drugs threat and protect the public from its impact.”
This arrest is a major blow to organised crime in Essex and beyond, putting a ruthless enforcer behind bars.
