South Manchester street in lockdown after dramatic armed police incident
A quiet residential road in Chorlton remains sealed off this morning following a serious overnight police operation.
Armed Police and Helicopter Descend on Morville Road
Emergency crews were scrambled to Morville Road at around 11pm on Monday (March 11), sparking a major response. Armed police units and a police helicopter were spotted sweeping the area late into the night.
Police Cordons and Taped-Off BMW Spark Investigation
Photos from the scene show a large police cordon blocking off Morville Road and the nearby junction with Badminton Road. At least one Greater Manchester Police (GMP) vehicle remains parked at the cordon. A BMW inside the sealed perimeter is also taped off, hinting it may be key to the ongoing probe.
Residents Left in the Dark Amid Rising Speculation
Details on the incident remain under wraps. The heavy police presence and involvement of specialist units have stirred buzz among neighbours.
“We heard the helicopter overhead and saw armed officers down the street. Something serious definitely happened, but no one’s been told anything yet,” said one local.
Police Confirm Investigation, Urge Caution
A GMP spokesperson confirmed an active investigation but refused to share further info. Officers are expected to carry out door-to-door enquiries and review CCTV footage from the area throughout the day.
Residents have been warned to steer clear of the cordoned zone while police continue their work.
