Nicholas Gilpin, 22, from Farnham Common, Buckinghamshire, has been convicted of multiple terror-related offences following a major police crackdown.
Right-Wing Extremist Caught
Thames Valley Police revealed Gilpin held extreme right-wing views. He was found guilty of possessing terrorist documents, encouraging terrorism, and inciting racial hatred by distributing racist, anti-Semitic, and white supremacist material.
Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE) swooped in during an intelligence-led raid on 18 October 2021 in Hereford. Officers seized Gilpin’s electronic devices which contained chilling manuals on close combat kills, bomb-making, chemical weapons use, firearms, and other illegal activities.
Hate Campaign Uncovered Online
Gilpin used the Telegram messaging app to spread vile videos and writings designed to spark racial hatred. On 16 March 2021, he openly called for acts of terrorism. He was officially charged on 20 January 2023.
“Gilpin had in his possession terrorist documents which outlined how to cause untold harm to those in society who he determined did not fit in with his mindset and he actively encouraged others to commit acts of terrorism,” said Detective Chief Superintendent Claire Finlay, head of CTPSE.
“By sharing racist and anti-Semitic content online, Gilpin knowingly stirred up racial hatred and spread extreme right-wing ideology.”
Convicted, Sentencing Awaited
After a four-week trial at Woolwich Crown Court, Gilpin was found guilty. His sentencing date has yet to be announced.
