Bulk Shoplifters Busted in Tonbridge Retail Raid!

Tonbridge neighbourhood officers made a swift move on Monday, March 18, 2024, intercepting two suspected bulk shoplifters at a retail park. The pair were caught red-handed after police stopped their vehicle on Cannon Lane. A search revealed large quantities of stolen food and perfume, leading to both men being arrested on the spot.

Suspects Named and Charged

The accused are 62-year-old Peter Tough from Aldersbrook, Greater London, and 58-year-old Gary Bartrup from Loughton, Essex. Investigators from Tonbridge Victim Based Crime Team charged the duo, mostly for stealing numerous meat products from Food Warehouse.

More Theft Charges Hit Peter Tough

Peter Tough isn’t just charged for meat theft. He also allegedly stole bike chains worth over £140 from Halfords on Cannon Lane. On top of that, he faces charges for nicking £335 worth of alcohol and food from a Chelmsford petrol station back on January 25.

Gary Bartrup’s Long List of Allegations

Gary Bartrup is in hot water for more than just Food Warehouse heists. He’s accused of pilfering alcohol and food from two separate Essex petrol stations, with the total stolen goods valued at £490. These offences were reported on January 25 and February 1.

Court Date Set – Justice on the Way

Both men have been granted conditional bail. They are due to face Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on April 3. Authorities are cracking down hard on organised retail crime to protect local businesses and keep Tonbridge safe.
