Paedophile from Maidstone Jailed for 22 Years

A Manchester court has slammed child sex offender Mark Stanford with a hefty 22-year prison sentence. The 55-year-old was found guilty of multiple horrific offences, including two counts of rape, six counts of indecent assault, and gross indecency with a child.

Three Years of Horror Uncovered

Stanford’s abuse spanned a terrifying three years from 1999 to 2002. The victim bravely came forward in May 2016, sparking a Kent Police investigation that led to his arrest. Despite pleading not guilty, a jury convicted him on all counts.

Victim Praised for Courage

“Stanford subjected a young child to the most appalling abuse and used their fear and vulnerability to ensure the child complied with his demands,” said Detective Sergeant Lisa Featherstone from the West Kent Vulnerable Investigation Team.

“The damage he has caused is devastating. I hope the victim can now begin to move forward, knowing Stanford is behind bars. We urge anyone affected by sexual abuse to come forward – it’s never too late to report.”

Stanford was also slapped with an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order to keep the public safe.
