Chilling New Evidence in Ashling Murphy Murder Trial
In a tense courtroom drama, witnesses have revealed spine-tingling encounters near the scene of school teacher Ashling Murphy’s murder. Jozef Puska, 33, stands accused, with testimonies painting a picture of eerie suspicion in Tullamore, Co Offaly.
Woman Followed by Man on Bicycle Hours Before Murder
Primary school teacher Ann Marie Kelly told the court she was followed by a man cycling slowly behind her less than two hours before Murphy’s body was found. “He stared at me,” Kelly said, describing the feeling of being deliberately intimidated in broad daylight.
Alarmed, Kelly contacted the Gardaí after learning about Murphy’s death, fearing the cyclist might be linked to the murder. The prosecution hammered home the creepy timing and intent behind the man’s actions.
CCTV Shows Suspect Following Another Woman
Further suspicion arose when CCTV footage revealed Puska cycling behind Beata Borowska as she walked towards number 1 in Tullamore. Borowska was unaware of being followed, but her testimony added weight to claims the accused exhibited suspicious behaviour.
Paramedics Reveal Suspect’s Injuries
Paramedics gave stark details of injuries on Puska after the murder. They found puncture wounds in his abdomen and scratches on his face and hands at a Dublin apartment the day after the killing. The wounds were not fresh, nor bleeding, suggesting a violent struggle had occurred earlier.
Other Witnesses Spot Suspicious Man on Bypass
Two more witnesses, Niamh Arthur and Roy Jennings, spotted a man in dark clothes acting suspiciously along the Tullamore bypass the night Murphy was killed. Jennings later identified the man as resembling the suspect, adding another chilling piece to the puzzle.
The trial presses on as the court pieces together the unsettling events leading up to Ashling Murphy’s tragic death.
