Fans of Amazon Prime Video’s hit series Clarkson’s Farm were left saddened by recent news regarding Pepper the Cow, a beloved character from the show. Jeremy Clarkson, the former Top Gear presenter and star of the series, revealed that Pepper had to be sent to an abattoir, despite his promise not to kill her.
In the previous season of Clarkson’s Farm, Clarkson had made a heartfelt promise to five-year-old Rosie, the daughter of a cattle breeder, that he would not harm Pepper. The cow had become a cherished pet on his Diddly Squat farm, and Clarkson had vowed to honour Rosie’s request to care for her.
However, the realities of farm life presented Clarkson with a difficult decision. In preparation for series three, Clarkson and his farm manager, Kaleb Cooper, decided to rear pigs, necessitating the culling of half their cows, including Pepper.
Clarkson shared his sadness over the decision, expressing his regret at having to part with Pepper. He reflected on the emotional moment, acknowledging the weight of the choice he had to make.
The news comes ahead of the release of Clarkson’s Farm season three, which premieres on Amazon Prime Video. The latest season will follow Clarkson’s venture into pig farming and document the challenges faced by Diddly Squat Farm, including severe weather conditions and rising prices of supplies due to inflation.
Fans can stream the first four episodes of Clarkson’s Farm season three from May 3, with an additional four episodes available the following week on May 10. To watch the series, viewers will need an Amazon Prime membership, which offers a free 30-day trial for new subscribers.
Despite the bittersweet news about Pepper, fans eagerly anticipate the return of Clarkson’s Farm and the new adventures awaiting Clarkson and his team as they navigate the trials and tribulations of farm life in Chadlington, Oxfordshire.
