Massive Cocaine Haul Seized in Northamptonshire
£60 Million Worth of Class A Drugs Found After Lorry Theft
Police swooped on a lorry at Brackmills Industrial Estate, Northampton, after reports of a theft on November 26. They uncovered holdalls packed with blocks of pure cocaine. Using ANPR, officers tracked down a dumped van nearby, loaded with even more drug stash. In total, 18 holdalls were seized in the massive haul.
780kg of Cocaine – Biggest Ever Seizure for Northamptonshire Police
Detective Superintendent Emma James said: “This is the biggest seizure of Class A drugs by Northamptonshire Police. We have recovered 780kg of cocaine, which after forensic testing, has been removed from the county.”
She explained the scale of the operation: “This was a large-scale transportation of Class A drugs. Our investigation is now focused on who brought it into Northamptonshire and what their plans were for distribution.”
Organised Crime Under the Microscope
Det Supt James warned about the wider dangers: “Buying cocaine might seem like a harmless night-out choice to some. But the gangs behind this trade are often involved in serious crimes like modern slavery, coercion of vulnerable people to deal drugs, violence, and firearms offences.”
She urged the public: “If you have any information about organised crime or drug dealing, please come forward. Contact us online, call 101, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Four Arrested But Released on Bail
Police have arrested three men and one woman linked to the investigation. All were released on bail pending further enquiries as the hunt for the masterminds behind the drug smuggling continues.
