Contactless Bus Ticket Snags Knife-Wielding Teen Robber in Sutton-in-Ashfield

Jaylen Foster, 18, thought he could get away with stealing two bracelets after threatening teens with a Rambo-style knife. Instead, a contactless bus ticket payment helped cops catch him red-handed.

Knife-Wielding Thug Targets Youngsters at Bus Station

On 30 January 2025, Foster approached three teens at Sutton-in-Ashfield bus station. He snatched a freshly bought bracelet from one. Then, flashing the handle of a Rambo-style knife, he forced another victim to hand over their bracelet.

CCTV and Contactless Ticket Crack the Case

At around 7.40pm, Foster tried to escape on a bus. But sharp-eyed detectives traced his movements using CCTV footage combined with the timing of his contactless ticket payment. The stolen bracelets were quickly recovered and returned to their rightful owners.

Jail Time for Prolific Offender

Foster, from Unwin Street, Huthwaite, pleaded guilty at 1 Crown Court to robbery, theft, knife possession, cannabis possession, and multiple Bail Act breaches. He’s been slapped with a hefty two years and eight months inside a young offender institution. This sentence also covers a series of crimes Foster committed throughout summer 2024.
